Buzzing About The Bees At The ACC Liverpool

Happy Busy Bees!

In May, Liverpool’s ACC event campus celebrated the arrival of over 140,000 honeybees, now residing in two newly established beehives, each presided over by its own queen. This initiative, supported by Wirral beekeepers Sunlight Bees, has seen the hives placed within a freshly created wildflower garden on the premises.

The addition of these beehives and wildflowers marks a significant step in ACC Liverpool’s journey towards sustainability. This project aims to enhance biodiversity on the event campus and highlights ACC Liverpool’s dedication to environmental stewardship.

Contributions from ADC and other suppliers have been instrumental in bringing this project to life.

Looking ahead, Phase 2 will focus on education and raising awareness, with plans to set up a live video feed that will be broadcast on YouTube, allowing the public to observe the bustling activity of the bee colony.

Eddie dos Santos, Director of Operations at ACC Liverpool said:

‘We know how important it is that we minimise the environmental impact of our operations to do our bit to tackle the climate crisis. The arrival of these beehives on site marks a key milestone in our sustainability journey. They have captured the imagination of our colleagues and we hope the public will be equally excited by the development. We’re grateful to Sunlight Bees for their advice and guidance and to our ever-supportive suppliers who have made the project happen.’
