Automatic Door Suppliers Association

ADC Entrance Solutions are a long standing member of ADSA, but what does that mean for you? Well, it means you can be assured that all our engineers are highly qualified and working to strict standards in the industry.

ADSA was established in 1985 to ensure that its member companies provide top-notch safety levels for pedestrian automatic doors.

ADSA’s main goal is to uphold the highest standards in automatic doors and assist specifiers and customers in finding the most suitable solution for their needs. The organization was responsible for creating the industry code of practice, which focuses on the safety aspects of automatic doors for pedestrian use. This code later served as the foundation for BS 7036: 1988, a code of practice for the provision and installation of safety devices for automatic, power-operated pedestrian door systems.

As technology progressed and new safety devices were introduced, ADSA updated the standard to BS 7036: 1996, which covers the safety of powered doors for pedestrian use. This was accompanied by a written test for individuals in the industry involved in operations covered by The British Standard.

The Automatic Door Suppliers Association (ADSA) helps set standards across Europe. They created the BS EN 16005 – 2012 standard, which replaced BS 7036 in April 2013. All members are fully dedicated to this standard and its associated testing.

ADSA member companies dominate over 75% of the UK market. They provide help with all parts of automatic doors. This includes choosing and specifying the right door. They also assist with installation. This way, clients get the best door for their needs.

Automatic doors improve the look of a building and help control the climate at entrances. They offer a useful solution for everyone, regardless of age or ability. This is especially important for meeting the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 and the Equality Act 2010.
